2026 AASP Board of Directors Election Candidates |
I’m Ovett Chapman Jr. and I am privileged to run for the Arizona Association of School Psychologists President-Elect.
I am running for the office of President-Elect because I truly believe that AASP should be a home for all school psychologists in Arizona. Whether that be at the start of your career, a seasoned professional transitioning into retirement, in a remote setting or isolated school, and even large metropolitan systems, there should be pathways by which any person can connect, as well as contribute. My main mission is to increase participation in all aspects of AASP. Beyond attendance at events, I hope to see more involvement on committees, advocacy work, mentorship, conference planning and leadership development.
As President-Elect, and eventually President, I will focus on three priorities: 1. Strengthen the sense of professional belonging within our association so that members feel they are seen, valued and represented. 2. Increase leadership development opportunities so that more school psychologists can picture themselves as future board members and committee chairs. 3. Ensure that we are engaged in organized, visible advocacy work that truly captures the experiences and day-to-day realities of practitioners across the state.
The role of President-Elect is a three-year commitment, and I take that seriously. It takes continuity, documentation, mentorship and thoughtful planning. It also takes listening. I am prepared to be the voice of our field, to support the work of our committees, to manage conference planning and to work with the current and future leaders to ensure AASP continues to grow in both impact and integrity.
AASP has been my professional community and a place to develop as a person. I would be honored to help foster that experience for others and continue growing the voice of school psychology in Arizona.
Thank you for your time and for the hard work you do every day to put the interests of Arizona’s students and families before yours.
My name is Jessy Hauser, and I am running for AASP Secretary. I have been involved with AASP for the past three years, first as Continuing Professional Development Co-Chair and the last two years as Secretary. I have truly enjoyed being part of AASP, connecting and collaborating with school psychologists across Arizona, learning more about the organization, and becoming more involved in advocacy efforts.
My name is Shannon Morse and I am running for Central Regional Director. I am a school psychologist for the Paradise Valley Unified School District and the current Past President for AASP. I have dedicated 21 years to the field of school psychology, gaining a wealth of experience across diverse school districts of varying sizes and socioeconomic backgrounds. I obtained my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University. I have also taught graduate classes at Northern Arizona University in assessment, IEP writing, and practicum supervision. Throughout my career, I have remained a member of AASP, serving the executive board in multiple capacities, including Research Chair, Secretary, Child and Family Advocacy Co-Chair, Public Policy Advocacy Committee Co-Chair, and President.
My commitment to school psychology is rooted in a belief that disability rights are human rights. I am running for Regional Director because I am passionate about ensuring that 'equity' isn't just a buzzword, but a lived reality for our students. From the rural districts to our urban areas, I advocate for systems that see the child before the disability and provide the resources necessary to bridge the gap between potential and achievement. I believe in a future where every student has a seat at the table. Within this requires the right support for School Psychologists as we are all ones that advocate for children, families, and education.
Hello! My name is Jennifer Elliott and I have been nominated for AASP’s Western Regional Director. I am an Arizona native who has worked in the state for over 17 years and would love the opportunity to continue to serve my region as director. I earned my MA at the University of Texas and Ph.D. at ASU. My husband was in the Air Force, so we moved frequently for many years. This was a great opportunity for me to practice school psychology in a variety of states such as Georgia, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. I have over 20 years of experience as a school psychologist, working with students in preschool through high school. I have also supervised practicum students and interns in that time.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Western Regional Director and AASP Board member, and hope to be able to again serve our community by coordinating relevant professional development. My goal as one of the Western Regional Directors for the next two years would be to find out what topics are important to psychologists in the Western region and facilitate professional development opportunities. Additionally, I would like to see opportunities for school psychologists in the region to be able to connect with one another for collaboration and support. If elected, I look forward to working together to continue to learn from the amazing school psychologists we have in our state.
