Advanced School Psychology Graduate Students: Preparing for Fall 2021

Topic: This interactive session will focus on how to effectively advocate to expand our scope of practice on school campuses to include more of the NASP best practices of school psychologists as interventionists and prevention focused. Workshop Objectives: By participating in this workshop, attendees will:

1. Gain a greater understanding of the school administration mindset to systems change.

2. Learn at least 2 techniques to improve communication with school administration.

3. Develop at least 2 options for developing a strategic plan to advocate for school psychologists to offer broader services.

This training is intended for advanced school psychology graduate students who would like to gain insight in how to prepare for their Fall 2021 experience. Students going on practicum, internship, doctoral and postdoctoral field placements are encouraged to attend. This will be an open discussion forum where students can directly communicate with experienced school psychologists in the state of Arizona who have experiences supervising and training future and current school psychologists. A document for students to ask questions prior to the presentation will be provided after registration. Topics may include how to organize, collaborate with teams, understand district pandemic procedures, and what to review over the summer. We look forward to having a dialogue through a virtual platform whereby students and professionals are able to actively engage in the learning and mentoring process. This workshop follows the NASP Practice Model for Organization Principle 6: Domain 2 Consultation and Collaboration and Domain 10 Legal, Ethical, and Professional Practice. This is not a CPD event.
