School-Based FBAs: How to Streamline the Assessment, Increase Buy-In and Save Time in the Process! (28 Apr 2026)

This engaging and practical workshop is designed for school psychologists seeking to strengthen their skills in conducting high-quality Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs). Led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with extensive experience working in school settings with students who present with behavior challenges, this session blends foundational knowledge with real-world application.

Participants will gain hands-on strategies to confidently navigate each step of the FBA process from identifying challenges to aligning data-driven interventions. Through real-world examples and guided practice, attendees will learn how to overcome common barriers, define observable and measurable behaviors, and implement effective data collection systems. The session will also explore how to accurately determine behavioral functions using both direct and indirect assessment tools, and how to translate findings into clear, visually compelling reports.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped to develop strong functional hypotheses and align them with meaningful, evidence-based interventions that support student success.

Objectives:

Identify and address common barriers in the FBA process

Develop clear operational definitions and effective data collection systems

Use direct and indirect assessment tools to determine behavioral function(s)

Create reports that clearly and visually communicate assessment results

Align functional hypotheses with targeted, evidence-based interventions
