The bilingual school psychology project also prepares school psychologists who are culturally sensitive and have a sound foundation in understanding the educational and socialization needs of ethnically and linguistically diverse populations.

Awareness - Action - Advocacy for Crime Victims
The Arizona Coalition for Victim Services is sponsoring a statewide annual conference in support of the many agencies, organizations and individuals who serve crime victims throughout Arizona . Participation at the conference is encouraged for Victim/Witness Advocates, Behavioral Health Professionals, Child Protective Services Workers, Attorneys, Probation Officers, Paralegals, Law Enforcement Officers, Members of the Judiciary, Legislators, Students, Crisis Intervention Workers and Interested Citizens. Keynote speaker is Dr. Victor Carrion from Stanford University who will present Understanding the Effects of Psychological Trauma on the Developing Brain.

Understanding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
4-hour trainings presented by Teresa Kellerman, Coordinator of the Fetal Alcohol Resource Center , are scheduled throughout Arizona for support coordinators, supervisors, program managers, teachers, parents, therapists and care providers. As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
-Recognize the physical and neurological symptoms of FAS and related disorders in infants, children and adults
-Understand the impact of prenatal exposure to alcohol on behavior and ability to function
-Identify intervention strategies that may help affected infants, children and adults
-Pre-screen for possible fetal alcohol disorders in persons receiving services
-Refer families and providers to appropriate information and resources in Arizona
