I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Secretary of the Arizona Association of School Psychologists.  I earned my specialist degree in school psychology at Florida State University and practiced in several states before settling in Arizona.   As I mentioned in my candidate statement, I have worked for school districts and state agencies large and small.  Presently, I work for the Fowler Elementary School District: a small seven-school district in Southwest Phoenix.  While working in a district this size allows me the opportunity to be an agent of positive change without facing too many bureaucratic hurdles, it can also be isolating.  I hope that in my tenure as President I will be able to bring together those of us who work in smaller (and growing) districts with those working in larger, more established districts.  Together we can learn how to help students, families, and educational professionals using the best of both types of systems.

I have several goals for my time serving AASP.  First, I wish to help organize an annual conference that will enhance the knowledge base and expand the skills of all school psychologists in attendance.  Second, I hope to recruit more school psychologists to help AASP fill its new organization committee structure.  Third, I will work toward helping the school psychologists and school districts in this state adapt to the changing roles in this era of NCLB and IDEIA.
