Application for New and Student Members
Renewal Application for Current Members

On-Line Payment Membership Renewal Option

Dear Potential and Current AASP Member:

Thank you for your interest in the Arizona Association of School Psychologists (AASP). We are a non-profit organization of more than 350 members, supporting schools and the practice of school psychology throughout Arizona. The goals of AASP are to:

  • Serve the mental health and educational needs of all children and youth;
  • Encourage and provide opportunities for the professional growth of individual members;
  • Inform the public about the services and practice of school psychology; and
  • Advance the ethics and standards of the profession of school psychology.

We offer four types of membership:

  • Full Membership is for persons who serve in public or private schools or agencies in Arizona, have proper credentials for school
    psychologist, and are actively engaged in school psychological services; or, persons who are engaged in private practice or in a
    professional field closely allied with school psychological services. A school psychologist is defined as a psychologist whose
    work is largely concerned with the application of psychological techniques to children and adolescents in schools. Closely allied
    with school psychological services are major research, teaching, professional practice, or administrative functions directly and
    specifically related to the work of school psychologists. A full member must also hold Arizona state certification in school
    psychology.
  • Associate Membership is for those who demonstrate a professional interest in the field of school psychology.
  • Retired Membership is available to those who have retired from remunerative professional activity. Applicants must show evidence
    of prior certification from Arizona, another state or prior NCSP certification, reviewed on an individual basis.
  • Student Affiliate Membership is for those actively enrolled in a school psychology training program at least one-half time or a
    minimum of six semester hours or its equivalent per semester. Student membership status is granted for no more than five years,
    requires annual verification, and is not granted to any person employed full-time nor to someone already certified as a school
    psychologist.

Although all members are eligible to participate in regular and special meetings of the association and to participate in the activities of the association, only Full and Retired members may vote and hold office. All membership applications are reviewed and approved by our
Board of Directors.

AASP publishes a quarterly newsletter, Intervention, conducts an annual conference hosting nationally-recognized speakers and timely
topics, provides a wealth of information on statewide training and activities via a newly-redesigned website, and prints an annual directory
of members.

We look forward to welcoming you as a member. You will find applications on this webpage.

If you have any questions about AASP or the membership application process, please contact our office administrator, Tracey Martin
at 480-854-8950, or contact me at cgrasso@azdjc.gov

Sincerely,

Carl Grasso
