Hi folks, I’m new to the organization and to Arizona, moving here about two years ago from the upstate area of New York.
I am currently employed as the School Psychologist for the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections. My prior school system experience includes the positions of school psychologist and Director of Special Education programs. My clinical experience, however, is deeply rooted in substance and alcohol treatment in both residential and outpatient settings for the private and public sectors.
I completed undergraduate studies at the City University of New York, and graduate studies at the College of St. Rose in Albany, where I was also an adjunct teaching graduate courses on substance abuse as well as classes for candidates seeking teacher certification in New York. I hold a certificate for School Administration from Massachusetts College. I am a certified school superintendent and principal in NY, and a certified principal in Arizona.
My youngest son resides in Phoenix with his wife. My daughter is a special education teacher at the Fowler District, and my oldest son lives in Vermont. I enjoy wood working and motorcycling as hobbies. My wife and I do stained glass work and try to travel as much as possible.
I am excited about being the Membership Chair for AASP and look forward to serving the organization in any way possible. I’m interested in trying to increase our membership and membership participation in the association. Being the sole-practitioner at Juvenile Corrections has created a personal interest in communication and consultation. I’d like to see a system or forum developed whereby we can ask questions, seek advice and consult with one another – especially those who are relatively new to the field.
